Target Audience

This activity is specifically designed for laboratory technologists, managers and clinicians involved in the use of diagnostic test results to guide rational use of antimicrobials and in antimicrobial stewardship programmes.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Provide an update on the global crisis of AMR and the cost of inaction

  • Define healthcare-associated Infections (HAIs), its causes and the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings

  • Describe the role of the laboratory in the AMR response and in the prevention and control of HAIs
